The purpose of these courses is to provide integrated educational experiences to prepare students for success by providing essential academic skills required for life and required to pass the Official GED Tests. This program provides language arts: writing and reading, mathematics, science, and social studies strands correlated to Sunshine State Standards. Subject area strands are designed to enhance students’ achievement in academic and workplace skills.
After successfully completing appropriate coursework for the Pre-GED program, students will have gained knowledge and skills necessary to study more complex tasks in preparation for the GED 2002 tests series.
The purpose of this program is to prepare students for career opportunities as psychiatric aides or psychiatric technicians also identified as mental health technician. Mental Health Technicians may work in psychiatric hospitals, community mental health clinics, partial hospitalizations programs and other mental health facilities. This course does not prepare students to be a mental health therapist or for the private practice of mental health counseling.
This course will prepare students to understand basic psychiatric terminology, psychopathology, basic psychopharmacology, social skills training and mental health laws and ethics. A Certified Mental Heath Technician will be able to assist patients in the recovery process. Students will work with and be supervised by registered nurses and/or licensed social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and other mental health professionals. The student’s communication skills and professional interaction with patients will be valuable assets.
This program meets the Department of Health HIV/AIDS education requirements. Upon completion of this program, CTIM will provide a certificate to the student verifying that the HIV/AIDS requirements have been met.
The purpose of this program is to prepare students for career opportunities as home health aides. Home Health Aides may work in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and private homes.
The content includes instruction to provide and maintain bodily and emotional comfort and to assist the patient toward independent living in a safe environment. Content areas to be included are: legal and ethical responsibilities; communication skills; basic human needs; a safe, clean, and healthy home environment; the developmental process; nutritional needs; emergency care; personal care; special care and rehabilitation needs of the client; household management; record-keeping; and employability skills. Additionally, hands-on practice includes Basic Infection Control Procedures, First Aid, CPR, ADE, Vital Signs, Home-Care & Client Care Skills.
The purpose of this program is to prepare students for career opportunities in cosmetology by teaching the students the necessary knowledge and clinical training to provide quality care as a cosmetologist and pass the State Cosmetology License Examination.
The purpose of this program is to prepare students for career opportunities as full specialist by teaching the students the necessary knowledge and clinical training to provide quality care as a full specialist and pass the State of Florida licensure examination.
The purpose of this program is to prepare students for makeup artists, hairstylists, and cosmetologists, costume designers, artists and others who have a serious desire to work in the most creative field of Makeup. Graduates will be prepared for entry level work as a makeup artist in motion pictures, television and print media.
The purpose of this program is to prepare students for career opportunities with school age children in a variety of settings by understanding the nature of child development from conception to school age. This course emphasizes positive development and nurturing of the family at each stage of a child’s growth. In addition, students will be prepared to take the State of Florida certification for Child care worker.
This course will cover the basic rules and regulations all childcare personnel must follow. Learn about health, safety & nutrition issues, developmental norms, and how to identify child abuse & neglect. Implement developmentally appropriate activities in a safe learning environment.
This program will help students acquire conversational skills in English. The program provides training in listening, speaking, reading, and writing English. The outcome is to help students develop better understanding and usage of English to persons already trained in occupations who would be employable if they could demonstrate adequate language skills in English.
